The plot of Dexter and the Moonrocks centers on Dexter's elaborate scheme to retrieve authentic lunar samples for his secret laboratory. Driven by his insatiable scientific curiosity, he constructs a powerful rocket, fully equipped for an interstellar journey. His objective is to collect the most valuable geological specimens from the moon's surface, believing they hold the key to new scientific breakthroughs. Dexter meticulously plans every step, from launch to retrieval, ensuring his mission is flawless and discreet. He envisions groundbreaking discoveries that will solidify his genius and further his reputation as a brilliant, albeit pint-sized, inventor.

However, Dexter's carefully laid plans quickly unravel due to the inevitable intrusion of Dee Dee. Her innocent yet clumsy exploration of his laboratory inevitably leads her to the rocket, which she mistakes for a new toy or simply something fun to interact with.
